So…many of you have been asking: WHAT’S NEXT? For my River Tribe, yes, I totally want to dive back into medieval Italy with my beloved characters. You can see the excerpt I wrote of TRIBUTARY, if you want to catch a glimpse of where I’d go with Book 4–if I get a chance to write it. (Jury’s still out–we need Books 1-3 to SELL!) In the meantime, I’m writing a contracted New Adult series called The Grand Tour, beginning with Glamorous Illusions. Books 2 and 3 are called Grave Consequences and Glittering Promises. In the back of Torrent, you might have seen them referenced with different titles–we had to change ’em up due to competition. Anyhoo, here’s the back cover copy for book 1:
It’s the summer of 1913 and Cora Kensington’s life on the family farm has taken a dark turn. After enduring crippling personal losses, she struggles to make it through, day to day. But then a stranger comes to call. And in one fateful afternoon, Cora discovers that a terrible secret has been kept from her…a secret that will radically change her future. Cora is invited to take the “Grand Tour” of Europe, a journey intended to finish a person’s eduction, to solidify an understanding of culture, history and personal refinement. As she travels from England to France, with kin she’s never known, Cora encounters the blessings of the family name, as well as the curses. But when an unbidden love begins to form, she realizes the journey is only beginning…
For those of you aren’t into Christian historical fiction, I’m warning you now that the faith aspect gets more play in this series. But I’m never a preachy kind of writer. It’s just important to the themes I’m developing in this series, so it’ll be in there. There will also be some intrigue and suspense in the series, but nothing on the level of River of Time–it’s New Adult and it’s as much as an internal development/coming-of-age story as it is a travel tale. Love story? Mmm, yes!! I’ve had fun writing book one and am now diving into book two as I travel with my daughter in Italy over the next couple of weeks.
This book releases in June 2012 from David C. Cook. Isn’t the cover GORGEOUS??? I couldn’t be happier.
