Scavenger Hunt Stop #1

May 20, 2012

Welcome to the first ever Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt! IT BEGINS AT NOON MST 5/31! Make the loop to discover 23 new or upcoming novels, and write down the clue at each stop. When you know what the clues say, return to my site to fill out the Rafflecopter form by June 4, 2012 (midnight EST), and you could be in the running for the grand prize of 23 new, autographed books (if you live in the USA; unsigned if international). Note: if you’re the winner, you must email the complete statement within 24 hours of notification in order to claim the Grand Prize…so don’t miss a stop! Be ready with your answer if you’re the lucky winner! No need to email it unless you receive the good word on June 5, 2012.

Jenny B. Jones

As my part in the hunt, I’m hosting the adorable and witty Jenny B. Jones, a high school teacher in Arkansas and gatherer of stray animals, as well as the novelist responsible for the Katie Parker Production Series, Save the Date, and  Just Between You & Me, novels for teens that appeal to adult women too. Jenny’s most recent release is A Charmed Life, which just hit stores this month. The cool thing about this book? It’s three books in one! That’s right…a whole series in one volume.

This is what it’s about:

New York’s social darling just woke up in a nightmare: Oklahoma. Problem is, it’s right where God wants her. Bella Kirkwood had it all: A-list friends, Broadway in her backyard, Daddy’s credit card. Then her father decided to trade in her mother for a newer model. After that, her mom fell in love with a man she met on the Internet and moved the family to Truman, Oklahoma. To a farm no less!

But that’s just the beginning of Bella’s problems. Her semi-pro-wrestler stepdad signs up the family for a reality TV show. As if having a camera crew follow her around isn’t bad enough, Bella discovers a conspiracy against the Truman High prom queen candidates. And that’s before the arrival of the Fritz Family Carnival with its creepy clown. Bella is one mocha frappe away from a total meltdown. How can a girl go on when her charmed life is gone and God appears to be giving her the total smack down?

A Scavenger Hunt Exclusive from Jenny:

I’m a cover nut. My faithful blog readers know I really value the cover given to a book. It can absolutely make or break an author’s work, especially when it’s YA. I was super excited when Thomas Nelson told me they were re-releasing the three books of A Charmed Life series into one big, fat pretty compilation. (Seriously, you could do bicep curls with this book.) I love and adore the cover we ended up with. It definitely ranks as one of my two favorite covers I’ve ever gotten.

Sometimes you kiss some frogs before you get to the prince. Covers are no exception. Here are two covers for A Charmed Life that almost made the cut. They’re cute, but I’m beyond thankful we went in another direction. What do you think? Did we pick well?  ~Jenny

I think they did! You can pick up a copy of Jenny’s book at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ChristianBook.com, or at your local bookstore. Find out more about this author at JennyBJones.com
